Are there any videos showing proper removal of a shell for the WBB O-Gauge F-7?.
I want to change the bulbs and don't want to damage or scratch the units

I would imagine there's something out there, but it may be more generic such as a WBB locomotive in general, or even just a locomotive in general.
On both of my WBB units, the shell is held on by four screws. Carefully remove the screws, and carefully lift off the shell. The key is using a proper size screwdriver. On mine, a #2 phillips works to get the screws loose the first time.
It's not even close to rocket surgery. Nothing is going to go "SPROING!" on you. Nothing is going to fall out.
If avoiding scratches or damage is your primary concern, just treat it as you would treat anything that you don't want to damage or scratch.
Thank You Matt!!
I received the LED bulb replacements from ACE Electronics and want to install them and report on them. This could be exciting news for those of us who want brighter light coming out of those nose lights!!!
The time to be careful is when you put the screws back in. Since they are self tapping screws, you can bung up the holes if you screw them in too forcefully.
Put the screw in the hole and either start it several turns by hand, or turn the screwdriver backwards until you feel the screw click into its threads. Then screw it in. It should go in easily until its almost seated.
If the screw is hard to turn right from the start, it is cutting a new set of threads in the plastic body. After doing that a few times, the plastic hole will be stripped out.
Thanks RoyBoy for the heads up!!!!!!!!!!!!
M1FredQ-
Go for it and just have your common sense in gear. Williams is pretty friendly when
it comes to body removal.
I don't do diesels or modern Williams much, but my experience with taking off Wms
diesel shells, after wrestling with brands M, L and A (especially A!) from time to time,
always leaves me singing Wms praises. I mean, how many screws and tabs does it take to
hold on a 10-oz body shell? Seriously?
I painted a brand M Alco S-2(?) for a friend (in GM&O, natch) and tried to remove the
body shell. I had something like 6 screws in my hand - and the thing would not budge.
Rather than break all those silly tabs, I masked the trucks, etc (love that Blue Tape)
and painted the body -in place-. This was a dummy, yet.
Steam, in the model world, is SO much easier to paint, modify and service.
Thanks everyone tomorrow I plan to tackle the project!!!
