Guys,

I am still working up the courage for my first repaint and have been reading all the old posts about stripping the factory paint from my Lionel TMCC C420 in D&H colours. My question now is what is the best way to remove the windows, number boards and lights before I strip and paint it? Just want to make sure I don't wreck anything.

If I decided not to strip it has anyone had luck with just taping the windows and lights?

Thanks as always for your advice,

Jay in Ottawa

Jay, try anything thin and flat to pry those out...dental pick or jewelers screwdriver...take your time and wiggle the object your using to pop the light inserts and windows out with..I just popped out all the clear parts on my lionel GP-9 and had only one casalty- one of the twin headlights didn't pop out with the assembly...of course it easily popped out afterward the rest of it did.

You can get clear sheet stock from different places for the cab windows and tack those in if the origonals break...the lights are a different story, but I'm usre you could get a replacement via lionel if you need one.
