I intend to repaint two 18" Lionel O Scale NYC baggage cars to Wabash Blue. Would appreciate any help in information concerning the paint that should be used and the location (if any) of Wabash decals for the cars.

Several years ago I painted a Williams baggage car to go with a Lionel Wabash City of Columbia car. I used a Rustoleum Gloss Navy Blue paint, gold dry transfer lettering from Woodland Scenics, then Dullcoat. Looked good enough for me although the lettering isn’t a perfect match.

Those cars came out great! Nobody should feel apprehensive about re-paints...easier than you think! JohnA
For Wabash decals, I've had good luck googling "O gauge (or scale) Wabash decals". Hard or next-to-done for finding Wabash passenger sheets, but worth a google or three.
Also, try Microscale here: <http://www.microscale.com/Merc...mp;Category_Code=WAB>
I disassembled and soaked the parts in 91% isopropyl alcohol for 24 hours. The next day a I rubbed any leftover paint off with a toothbrush.
Then I sprayed the model with primer. I used grey Tamiya from a rattle can. I later decided to paint the car yellow so re-primed with Rust-Oleum white primer from a rattle can.
Then I used Tamiya airbrush paint to get my colors. I coated the model with Tamiya clear coat semi gloss. I should have used gloss. Decals need to go on gloss paint. You can always dull it down when finished.
I used a combination of decals from K4, dry transfers from woodland scenics and home made. There are several commercial companies that sell decals. Google is your friend. I used micro set and micro Sol to apply and seal the decals. Very important.
When I was all done, I sprayed the entire model with Krylon Matte Medium.
This was my first try and it was fun. I did this car for a friend. He liked it so much he asked me to do one for Iowa State next. The problem is I can't find 91% isopropyl alcohol. Everyone has bought it to make hand sanitizer.
Have Fun!
