Working on a MTH 10-1062-1 Proto Blue Comet Engine looking for a replacement gear. See attached photo, damaged gear is right under worm gear on motor. Unable to contact MTH parts ,no tinplate parts on website. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

Looks like my recent post. I was directed be helpful responses to contact Hennings and got the replacement gear from them. I haven't cleaned it up and installed yet. My mess looks like your mess.

That gear will be available when MTH parts go online in a few weeks. I believe the part number is TP-OE00100, but need to verify it (I'm going to MTH Wednesday). They are having problems getting the website up. Will be www.mthsupport.com
Looking at that gear makes me want to do a lube check on my MTH tinplate. They certainly do not like to be run too dry.
Thanks Jon G appreciate the heads up for MTH new parts web sight in a few weeks, hope your making out well and Good luck !

Update - the gear part number is TP-OE00100 which is just the brass worm driven gear without the setscrew. There is a part number, TP-OE00147 which is the crossshaft, spur gear and worm driven gear with setscrew for use on the early models to replace the pressed-on assembly. However, they have not been inventoried yet and judging from the pallets of Tinplate parts yet to be unpacked, it's probably going to be next year, at the earliest, before they find them (if any are left).
Buy two if you ever find them, that gear is a very common failure. It should be greased often, probably every few hours of operation. When it doesn't get grease, you get bronze filings, and it looks like you have them!
Look how dry the gears are, that's the kiss of death for these tinplate locomotives.
