I have MTH passenger set 20-6530. This is a set of 5 modern ribbed side 70 foot PRR passenger cars with lighted interiors. To change a lamp it is necessary to remove 10 screws just to access the light bar that holds the lamps. Eight screws attach the underframe to the body.  Two more screws attach the floor to the underframe. Then 6 more screws to remove the light bar to access the lamps.

Now that the forum no longer purges old posts, this can serve as a reference for the less-experienced so they know what they're getting into (provided they actually look for it, that is).

I know that's part of the reason I've documented my LED upgrade project here. Had I the same info when I got started on that initiative, I'd be up to speed in a matter of hours versus the days of back-and-forth it took before I was ready.

I provided the photos for informational purposes only.  For those who do not collect MTH passenger cars this posting of information can be ignored. MTH does not provide this kind of information for these cars on their website. I thought this might be helpful for some.

Note: I offer repairs for MTH equipment.  I also offer instructional CDs which show how to dis-assemble MTH products and how to repair/replace parts.

i have a 20-4061 and i cant find out the value of the GOW and if it is resisted internally... do you know the value of the bulb? or have a part number?

I have removed a bunch of bulbs from MTH cars when replacing them with LED strips.  If you want some, I'll send them for the couple bucks postage. Most of the cars have 18V bulbs in what looks like Christmas tree light bases.
