reset or repair ps2 3 volt boards has 2 with 2 issues,will start up but not shut down

Alan, tether your remote with the phone cord.  See what you have or not.  Are these new engines or upgrades?

no Mary I'm testing them in my ps2 test rig and these 2 boards have the issues mentioned they are not installed in any engines!

Try loading a sound file into them.  It's odd, because I have fired up virgin boards from upgrade kits and they would shutdown with no sound file loaded.

How are the batteries in tester?  Alan, the TIU is still involved.  What is the background on the boards???

SO you can make board function other wise with remote, but will not do a Shutdown?  Does remote control other boards correctly?  I am with John, load a SF and than test so you can see what is happening.  Do a DCS Signal Strength test.  G

I tested at least eight  other boards and all worked correctly only these 2 were problems even tried delete engines in boards and the added engine again no difference

Alan,  what is the background on these boards?   Are they used, new stock, or from upgrade kits?  What Sounds are in them?  Do they run conventional?

I did not try to run them in conventional but they are used boards I had and was just checking out all my boards yesterday. you suggest I should try running them in conventional as a test? ill test tem again and give you more details. thanks for everyone's input!

Alan,

Just load a known-good sound file and see if the problem is still present. If a sound file won't load, or it loads and the problem remains, the board has an issue. If it works after the load, the software was the problem.

thanks Barry that worked but didn't want to go in kept saying was a 5 volt board but after many tries it completed and both boards worked perfectly 3 volt boards as I said!

yes I know john and I tried that sound file back then 2 but it would not go in because it kept saying cant install because it was a five volt board but it was not!! so today  kept hitting continuing over and over n over n over again until it completed the transfer THEN it worked fine.

just the quirks of dcs I guess , but I still like dcs the best of everything on the market!
