Just wondering what kind of progress is being made on either the #1309 at the Western Maryland or on the #2014 Big Boy on the Union Pacific.  I understand that both are behind schedule.  Will the #1309 run this year?  How about the Big Boy;  Only about 18 months before it was planned for the 150th anniversary of U.P.

I understand that progress on the #2100 Reading 4-8-4 has come to a screeching halt.

No, not even close.

How about the Big Boy;

No, and it wasn't scheduled to run until spring of 2019.

Right. We can only hope.

Well, sort of.

Paul, if you wish ... you can contact the Big Boy restoration program's manager, Ed Dickens, directly to ask him particular questions. Ed has posted his work email address.

I look forward to seeing 4014 run.

The truly articulate locomotives can speak for themselves; it's the hinged ones that have a problem.

lolol

("Articulate"  and "articulated" are both correct, though.)

Yes, my big Random House dictionary does list "articulate" in this sense as an accepted usage in zoology (entry No. 8).  However, I think you will agree that "articulated" is the conventional and generally accepted term for hinged or jointed locomotives in the railroad context: see, for example Articulated Locomotives" by Lionel Wiener (a major work on the subject) and Articulated Steam Locomotives of North America by Robert A LeMassena (another major publication).
