Hi,

I picked up a 83 crossing light at Allentown on Saturday and the diver bell portion is in need of some attention.  There are many cracks in it and I was wondering if there was some type of filler that I could use to fill in the cracks before painting?  Overall the piece is solid it just has the cracks.

   Thank you,

Would be better seeing a pic. But from the way it sounds I would suggest filling the cracks with squadron green putty body fill. Start by removing all the paint then proceed to fill the cracks with the squadron filler then sand it like your sanding drywall. If you have any shrinkage or low places in the filler you will need to appply more filler then sand again until you get it like you want it. Seal it with a good clear sealer before final paint. Squadron green putty can be bought at most hobby stores as well as on line. Squadron makes other fillers but I get the best results using the green.
