I understand the new rev "L" TIUs have a more robust signal but what, if any, other differences are there over previous issues? (Not counting the latest updates) I thought the rev L TIU's had a usb port? Or am I wrong about that?

Marty W,
Yes the Rev L has a USB port under and just off to the right of the ProtoCast Ident on the side of the Rev L TIU. It seems to deliver a more powerful signal and really does work well, I have a Rev I also that needs to be up dated by GGG, it has no USB port. However I ran my multi level DCS FasTrack layout with it, for many years with no problems.

Ha! Two grown men couldn't find it yesterday! (one being me) Probably didn't notice it as It's not marked. It's also not the type of USB hub I expected to see, of which, I didn't see it anyway. LOL! Silly me!
My old Tius still work fine and I have an old computer that can still update them, question is.......for how long?
Thank You Dave!
Everytime my dealer receives a new shipment of the 50-1001 sets I buy one. I always stay with the latest greatest because any internal hardware changes has to be for the best.
Received a new set just a few weeks back. Still the Rev.L model loaded with 4.20
I still have and use 2 original issue Rev Gs and 1 Rev H. Nothing newer.
Thanks guys, I just found it a little confusing as there's no mention of the USB port on either the outer box or the owner's manual. Kind of strange to have a major improvement like that with no mention of it. Usually when there's some improvement to a product, the manufacturer usually touts it. Kind of like "new and improved" or something like that. Anyway thanks again, and all is well.
Did you also note that the USB port is not labeled? It's just stuck between two other ports.
GunRJ, yes, in my first reply to Pine Creek I mentioned that. But still the main premise was TWO, not one, folks were too blind to even see the unmarked port! LOL! I'm sure we can mark that up to a Senior moment!
That's why I'm in O gauge and bigger!
Marty W,
Hay I missed it myself for a while, no ident nothing, stuff like this makes an old PWE like me talk to myself, even more than when I was working.
