RailKing 30-4224C B&O/CSX Anniversary Bay Window Caboose
This caboose was issued with the RailKing 30-4224 SD70ACe Diesel R-T-R Deluxe Freight Train Set. The caboose is a nice replica of the CSXT 904000 which commemorates the 175th anniversary of the B&O railroad (2003). The caboose was part of a CSX freight set issued in 2013.
Although the lettering is reasonably accurate the model itself is not a very close example of the prototype. I intend to swap out the trucks and replace with Bettendorf leaf spring types.
Notes: The National Railway Historical Society, Washington, DC Chapter, Inc. and the Railway and Locomotive Historical Society, Inc. celebrated the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad's 175th Anniversary in Baltimore in July 2003.
The Baltimore and Ohio railroad (B&O) was the first common carrier railroad ever in the United States. It was chartered on February 28, 1827 in Baltimore. The actual construction of the B&O railroad began on July 4, 1828.
