I was fortunate enough to get a ticket for the ride this Saturday,  Lewistown, PA to Galliztin and back.  Will anyone else from the forum be there on Saturday?  Of course I will be in coach so look me up if your on the train! Should be a great day and the weather so far looks promising.  Hope to see you there.

Pennsydave, and juniata guy:  I'll be on the train as well.  Wearing a red shirt that says "Franklin Inn" and a black PRR cap.

Frankln Inn is a former PRR 21-roomette sleeping car that was converted to a coach by PRR in 1963. It will be one of the coaches used this coming weekend.  I suspect it has made many previous trips around Horseshoe Curve.

Depending how far "west" you are there are both the narrow gauge lines in Colorado, then there is AT&SF3751, UP844, SP4449, or Mil Road261.

I'm closer to them. The Greenfield Village/Henry Ford Museum trains in Dearborn, Mich. are the best thing I around me that I am aware of, without a 2.5-4hr drive each way and even those don't travel for as long as I do driving.

I'm on NS46 and counted 10 cars!  That is close to 500 people. Lewistown is not a big place.  I sure hope they have parking well planned.   Hope to meet at least one of you guys tomorrow somewhere along the line.  I don't have any railroad clothes to wear but I think I am going to cut out an OGR symbol and put in my York badge holder.  See you tomorrow and have a great time.  By the way, you will be able to pick me out, I'm an old white, bald guy in his 60's!!

I live in McVeytown Pa, 15 miles west of Lewistown and belong to the group that helps to do some work around the Lewistown station, I wish I had more time to spend there but the club does a good job.  From what I  have been told there will be parking at an old factory lot fairly close to the station with vans to shuttle people to the train.  Plan to arrive a little early but do not plan on parking at the station.  Amtrak  has that reserved for their two daily stops. My son will be  one the paramedics on board but we hope they will not be needed.

BandOB:

I think I saw you this morning when we were walking back through Franklin Inn to get to our car.  You were in a conversation with someone and I didn't want to interrupt.

All in all a great day, although waiting to board this morning and lunch in Altoona were a bit brisk.  Hats off to the Ft. Wayne folks for a well organized excursion and to NS for allowing this train to run!

You folks who are riding Sunday or Monday are in for a treat!
