Great pic. Notice the round trolley pole retriever on the end of the car. My Grandma and I were coming home from downtown Chicago on the old North Shore Line one day when the pole came off the wire and the retriever slammed it down on the roof with a BANG! Scared the you-know-what out of me. Those wood slats on the roof were to prevent damage when the pole slammed down. NSL cars had the exact same install as the Rockford car.
