I recently purchased two new MTH SP cabooses #20-91446. Both have box rub marks on the left side of the roof where the caboose roof lays against the foam. The rubs go right through the plastic bag in which the caboose is placed. Returned first caboose for a refund, now I have to send the second one back. Has anyone else bought any of these cabooses and seen the rub marks on the roofs? I have a previous run of this MTH SP red caboose and it does not have any roof rub marks. It's an MTH packaging problem, but what's MTH going to do now that this product has been shipped to dealers and the dealers have sold them?

Update - sent my woodsided SP caboose (20-91446) back to MTH at their request, and had a call from MTH an hour ago. MTH is aware of the roof rub problem caused by the foam box and is in the process of having new roofs made. Probably a month or two before all gets resolved. Hate to think how many cars are involved.
Nice response from MTH.
Same issue on mine - glad to see they will be doing something about it.
Did MTH indicate any way for people to be notified when the new roofs come in?
There is a more severe problem with these cabooses - buzzing from the design of the marker light circuit. MTH must be aware of this problem as well - wonder if they plan on doing anything about it.
MTH said for me to call them in about a month. I believe you'd have to request a Return Authorization from MTH and send your defective caboose to them. As the consumer, if you don't contact MTH directly, will your dealer do it for you?
I don't recall a buzzing sound in the new caboose I bought. I have a first run of this same caboose from a couple of years ago; have replaced the marker light bulbs/harness because one of the lights failed. Was at my cost. Those lights are not LED, they are 6 volt, 2.3mm incandescent. The only place I found those bulbs was at Ships 'n' Things in New Jersey, other than the replacement bulbs/harness assembly from MTH. It took a lot of searching on the internet to find those 2.3mm bulbs. Anything larger won't fit.
I don't see what the big deal is.There are better things to be concerned about .
Proactive response by MTH.
Look like pretty good bodies from your photos. If they dump those rubbed bodies, I am in. I have a good airbrush, and they assure me Scale Coat paint will still be available.
I see why you all are a bit peeved. If I spent fifty bucks for a plastic freight car I would want it undamaged, too.
