Has anyone purchased the roadbed from Ross and do you like it? I'm thinking of purchasing and spray painting the roadbed instead of applying ballast.

I haven't used it or seen a layout using it. An issue for me would be the seams between various sections of track that use RossBed. I'd want to find a way to hide those seams.
Why are you reluctant to use ballast?
I have it and use it on my Christmas tree base. Like your idea, I painted the foam with the fleckstone paint. It took a good 24 hrs for the fleckstone paint to dry but the ballast effect was worth it.

For me it's the movement of this 4x4 Christmas tree base in and out of storage. NO ballast = NO mess and NO fuss. BTW, Do you see any seams in the photos above? The fleckstone paint camouflages the seams really well.
Also the foam bottoms seems to "grab" carpet and cloth pretty good for a temporary layout. I think the stuff is great for a temporary and/or small modular layout. IT quite expensive for a large layout though. I hope this helps.

That looks great. The Fleckstone is very useful, isn't it?

I agree, assuming the pictures show where seams are and the paint holds up over the holidays and, again, I assume it does or you wouldn't use it.
Curious about why the change in font size from picture one where the type is small and inconspicuous, to a much larger font in the following pictures. Are there legal issues involved?
