Hi can anybody here tell me about this particular model? price/availability ,and most importantly how well it works, I'm assuming as a MTH product it should be very good

It depends if I can tell you about it. Is it LocoSound, PS2, or a dummy? If it is the PS2 unit, then I can tell you that it is a very nice engine. Mine came in a set. It has loud sound, is very reliable, and is a very strong puller. The John Deere paint scheme also turns a few heads!

The John Deere separate sale engine you show may be the #30-2289-3 dummy version. It was introduced in the 2002 Volume 2 catalog. MSRP was $59.95
