Both Jim Policastro and Alex Muller (Ingeniero No 1), did great jobs explaining scenery projects.

 - Jim with his flexible cliffs made of scrap pieces of pink  Styrofoam & bits of rock castings.  I was thinking along the same lines but with

small rocks imbedded in plaster, which would be just to heavy for large sections of scenery.  Now I know how I will be making cliffs.

 - Alex the most detailed explanation of a project I've ever seen, with 4 figures & 35 pictures, don't miss the first picture of the finished

project.  Picture no.2 with the notched out deck to replicate track ties, outstanding!  If a picture is worth a thousand words, your article

   is 39,000 + words.

My copy arrived today in Tacoma,  The title of the thread should be "three of our own" since Christopher2035 has a very nice article as well!  It starts on page 54 and has great pictures of his postwar, MPC (of course!) and modern engines on his around the room layout.  The only question I have is since you have a daughter, will you change the name of "Esposito & Sons Grain Co-op" to "Esposito & Daughters Grain Co-op".  Looks like you have some time to figure this to before she starts to read....  All the best, Dave

I have not received my copy yet. However, and without implying in any way that I am on the same level as Jim Policastro and the other authors, I am honored to grace the pages of OGR magazine with such company.  I have learned a lot from Jim’s posts and articles over the past four years, and I am looking forward to reading his newest rendition as well as those of the other writers.

Thank you all for your nice remarks.

Thanks Dave!!     I think I'll change the name to "Esposito & Family Grain Co-op"

Don't want to leave out the wifey

I was surprised when mine came early in the week [subs of Philly]. As I scanned through it, I too noticed a number of articles from forum members. While I am still reading the articles what I have read  was well done. Shows the value of this forum's membership.

I also wanted to extend my congrats to all three of you guys!!  I came home to my issue (as usual all torn up) but still a joy to read!  I enjoyed Jim's great technique and Christopher's layout....and WOW oh WOW, once again that beautiful trestle that Alex built.  As many of you know, Alex is a member of our Mid-America 3-Railers and he and his wife Judy were hosts for our get together during Feb. 4th and 5th weekend.  What a great couple!!  The home, food, and layout were just wonderful!  The magazine presentation of his project is one of the best I have seen.  Thanks so much for OGR!

I just received my copy and read it completely. Very nice articles indeed from all the writters!

Jim Policatro's article:

Jim's method, which is very well and clearly described, is just the ticket for some areas in my layout, as he suggested. Very helpful indeed.

Christopher Esposito's article:

Christopher has certainly done a superb job detailing his nice layout. I believe his treatment of FasTrack is the best I have seen. If he had not said what it was, I would have not paid any attention to the fact that it is FasTrack!

As far as my article, well . . .

I read it again, and I sure am glad that Allan Miller and his staff included so many of my pictures and drawings. Thank you! For although my written explanation of the construction details is correct, it would be very difficult to envision without all the pictures and drawings.

Even so, if anyone has any questions about the trestle or its construction, please post a question or email me; I'l be happy to oblige with more details.

And thank you for your comments!

Alex
