I got a lot of help here with my prewar layout to use DC ..for my 256  dual motor  with  no  e unit its perfect, and very smooth, However  I got a 260E steam with a e unit and chuger  .

When I operate  the 260E on DC power  it has a very smooth low voltage operating  run, but the e unit won't cycle properly and the chugar won't  work.

So I  remove the DC  rectifier and capsitor  to have it back to AC run using my tmcc cab1 control

Everything works fine now  except the lights are brighter.

Just making sure nothing can be done to use the DC set up and still have the chugar sound and the e unit cycle properly.

just asking if anyone had experience with possibly AC better for these engines  and found one better than the other (AC vs DC) for prewar engines like these

thanks ...daniel
