I herd on this form, the CRC aerosol lubricant cleaner is amazing for electrical conductivity as well as a rust preventer.
You shouldn't be getting rust on your fastrack unless the area your layout is in is too damp, if its in a basement its time to consider a dehumidifier.
I use Rail Zip:

My layout is in the garage in Florida. It gets hot and humid. Twice a year I clean my Rails and rub them down with Rail Zip. I have Fast Track. Works great, once I had a problem with water getting directly on to a section in the back. By the time I notice it I had 5 feet of rails that had rust on them. I cleaned them off and rubbed them down with Rail Zip and have not had a problem since then.
this is my story exactly my dad lives in FL and has his setup in a two car garage which is fast Track as well. We found are rust towards the back of the garage along about four feet of track. We cleaned the track with denatured alcohol but were looking for a preventative. Thanks for the idea.
well it rust when not in basement to
Call me crazy but I use a touch of CLP (Gun Preservative, lube and cleaner) a wipe down occasionally is sufficient.
