Santa Fe lounge car themed train room

I love that.  Please post mere as you go.  

How wonderful? The upholstery for the chairs is perfect...Table is great with it's period magazine...and the obligatory smoke stand. The bar will be great too, no doubt. I envision barware and bottles, glassware and such filling it out. Bit of a pain I'm sure, but I love the radius corner detail. Please keep us posted, can hardly wait for updates.

How and where did you find the actual Budd chairs?

I found these at a movie prop warehouse in Van Nuys California.  They were not exactly sure where they came from as it had been some time.  But the story was they came from a car that Amtrak gutted in the early 1970s.

The bar is almost done.  I have to hook up the sink, finish some minor things and paint the wall.  Oh and rehang the Santa Fe San Francisco Poster.

How about some photos of the layout? It looks well done as well.

That is totaly KOOL!!!!!   Just need some proper big band music playing like in the youtube video of a ride on the restored Nebraska Zephyr.  Probably about as close to pre/postwar streamliner travel one can get. Really sets the mood in the room.   Mike

Only problem I see is the lack of available beverages available on the back of the bar!! 

That is a great-looking train room, and it's such a great job you've done.

I assume you have been fitted for your tailored white steward's jacket?

A room like this almost requires a dress code.

 

On my most recent Amtrak long distance trip I did try to class it up a bit for dinner by wearing a dress shirt and tie.  Trying to bring back a little Santa Fe Chief class on the Southwest Chief.  Well at least I looked good

Don't know if you could ever "class it up" anymore. Ever look at the way today's passengers dress to fly? Why folks are 5 times better dressed in depression era baseball park images, of course when you let someone with flip flops man the emergency exit on an aircraft it is clear you have no dress code!
