On my most recent Amtrak long distance trip I did try to class it up a bit for dinner by wearing a dress shirt and tie.  Trying to bring back a little Santa Fe Chief class on the Southwest Chief.  Well at least I looked good

Don't know if you could ever "class it up" anymore. Ever look at the way today's passengers dress to fly? Why folks are 5 times better dressed in depression era baseball park images, of course when you let someone with flip flops man the emergency exit on an aircraft it is clear you have no dress code!
