Here's some Burlington mainline mixeds from the '30's:  http://digital.denverlibrary.o...l22/id/45968/rec/104

I observe in the last photo, a Great Northern truss rod boxcar, which was done in O Scale by Pacific Limited. I find mainline mixeds to be intriguing! These trains were running on the Lincoln-Denver and Lincoln-Alliance mainlines of the Burlington. Note the +/- bar above the pictures which allows for a magnified view.

Ah, good! Thought I was yelling down a manhole!  I love mixed trains because the passenger cars are usually antiques and, well, I just love freight equipment. Particularly during the Depression, mixeds popped up to put a little revenue on formerly money-losing passenger trains. Some of that happened even in the '70's as the Rock Island put a bit of freight on their remaining passenger trains. (Believe they opted out of Amtrak participation)

O.K. well thanks for your reply. These trains have a certain charm to them.
