I had my first train before I was even born. My dad always told everyone his first born would be a boy, so I had a 2037 steam set waiting on me when I popped out. He was a truck driver for a company called ACE , that was located between Akron and Cleveland back in the sixty's. The company gave safety points for so many miles driven without any accidents. They had a catalog I think something like S & H green stamps that they could get anything from toys, to kitchen appliances. Anyway, back to the trains, a couple of years later a Santa Fe 212 passenger set was added to the 2037, then some switches, street lights, a few more freight cars, and then a ZW. Some of the items came from Glens Trains in Akron. We Lived in Manchester at the time. I can remember going to Glens a couple of times when I was little, on one visit in the evening we had the 2037s tender with us to get the draw bar fixed because it was broke in two. I can remember seeing a pair of Santa Fe warbonnet diesel in blue and yellow sitting on the shelf behind the counter and really wanting that pair. Dad tried to get the guy behind the counter (I don't know if it was Glen or not since I was only 6 or 7) to trade the 2037 for the warbonnet set, but it was not going to happen. Ok this is my question this was '65, '66, '67 time period, Would anyone had any idea as to what pair of diesel did I see on the shelf? I can remember the bodys looking like GPs, but that is all. I would really like to find that pair.
