Am I crazy, or was Lionel's Santa Fe Pullman sleeper "Willow Glade" designed to provide cross-country sleeper service between NY and the left coast on the NYC/Santa Fe?  It seems to be a perfect fit in both scheme and name (Willow Range, Willow Valley, Willow Trail, Willow Range...Willow Glade?)...

Can anyone either confirm my craziness or am I adding 2 and 2 to make 5?

Thanks so much!

Mario

from the atsfrr.com website:

7 drawing room: 2 cars: Willow Glade, Willow Range (neither assigned to a specific train.)

I don't know if that means that the cars were used in interchange service or not, but the fact they were not assigned to specific trains may mean that the were allowed to run through.  I tried to look around some more but couldn't come up with what railroads it might have interchanged.
