Are the Bachmann figures well detailed?

Check out the Scenery Section of the Forum for the Source List.

Several vendors of figures listed there and there was a recent discussion there in the past week on source for figures.

I tend to also, but Artista does not have good figures of horses and mules for horse drawn wagons, etc.

There's also Aardvark Arts, Fun & Games (got some nice horses in harness at the Nat'l...), Langley, Metal Figures, McKenzie Iron & Steel, S&S Figures, and more...

Adding another request for figures. I have fast food resturants that need people sitting and eating, food in hands and  some standing in line to order. I have looked at many manufacturers and zilch. But I have a nice A&W rootbeer stand that needs people , burgers in hand stuffing their faces.

I went to the Scenery Section that you suggested.

I get no replies from those people.

What people?  That's just a list of vendors there.  You have to contact them and wait for an answer.  Didn't realize you were one of the instant gratification generation.

Ok, took me about 30 seconds to open up the pdf of the Artista catalog, search it using the "find" option in Adobe Reader, and find that they have 5 different brakeman figures listed.  You might consider learning how to actually search for stuff - it's a useful skill.

Artista

1144 Brakeman Riding

1305 Brakeman stooping w/lantern

1306 Brakeman holding on

1408 Brakeman hanging on

1481 Brakeman with flag

There's at least 6 other sources of good figures in O scale that you could actually look at and find useful.

DEAR MWB:

Why, you wrong me Sir!

My "instant gratification generation" was born in the latter years of the Great Depression, when there were still breadlines, soup kitchens, and FDR's Fireside Chats!

We weren't lookiing for instant gratification...just a Job and something to Eat!

Anyway, thanks for helping this old man locate what he's been looking for...I'll check Artista again.

(Incidentaly, what's a "pdf", and what is "Adobe Reader"?)

Hal:  You and your posts are very refreshing.  You are one of the very few rr guys who does NOT pretend to know it all.  Not being patronizing, but truthful.  I've been involved in this great hobby for many years, and more than sometimes find myself afraid of asking basic questions. I admire you and actually gain inspiration from reading your questions.  BTW, I'm 67.

HEY PETE TRUNK AGAIN,

Your kind words were well received!

Here's to a clear board along your route, and no slow orders in your consist.

You have the OK from Division to Highball!

BAD ORDER  (Don't you just love that railroad talk? I hear it on my scanner all the time!)

HEY MWB:

Now that I have the correct spelling for ARTTISTA, I was able to open up their vast catalog of O-scale figures!

The reason I was unsuccessful at first is because I entered the name as ARTISTA, which you gave me.

There is one brakeman figure (1144), with a leg raised, as if he's going up a step, with both arms outstretched, as if holding onto the caboose grab irons.  This might work...

Pegasus has some great looking animals, including goats. They do require painting though. The following pics I found on the net. I have painted a few thus far, and they look good, but the guy who did these in the pic here did a bit better. I need to assembly line paint the rest of these *one of these days*.

This guy did a great job on these. I found it fairly easy to do almost this good, I think I will be close to this good with the rest of them. He has the goats painted black/brown. I think you would go white or gray with white to look like mountain goats. The Longhorns might fit into your layout, too. There is a Wolf/Coyote as well. I think you get 4 trees of animals in the set for about $8.

I got mine at Scale Hobbyist, click here to go there

Pegasus also has some great looking cactus in 1/48. I have some of those and the Miners set as well. All of their stuff is top notch. The detail is great- there is even hair and feather texture on the animals. I wish they would expand their line.
