Given I just found out from my wife that "we" donated our PE set to Goodwill, I'm thinking about maybe just maybe replacing it with the scale set.  Anyone own any of the released versions of the scale set?  Can anyone please post some photos here?  I'd really like to see the locomotive, the rear observation area, and through the windows to see the interiors.  Thanks.

Do a search of polar Express scale and your question will be answered.

I actually did that before posting.  Not sure if it's how I'm searching or the search function on this site, but it rarely ever pulls up anything related to the search terms.  I'll check out YouTube.  Was looking for feedback from folks here too on how they like this set.

One of the nice features is that the whistle steam works really well. It may have something to do with the fact that the smoke stack and the whistle share a fluid reservoir. But in any case, it puts out a good deal of smoke. The cars are nicely detailed with items from the story-line. For example, the observation car has only one figure, the little boy that sat by himself back there. And the hot chocolate car has nice details as well. If you don't have Legacy yet you will want to get the controller; the quilling whistle, Tom Hanks voice, and the other features are worth it.

The only problem I've had with it has to do with the front truck. I think mine was one of the first units received by Nicholas Smith Trains, and that truck was broken in the box, which showed no signs of damage. Nicholas Smith has great service and they told me that it appeared that this was a problem with some of the early shipments. They steered me to Lionel Service, who immediately shipped me the replacement parts (to avoid shipping the loco across country and exposing it to possible freight damage). It was an easy repair, and I have put a LOT of hours on it in our annual Christmas train show at church. Now, however, after a great deal of hard use, one side of the truck has broken again. I just contacted Lionel about purchasing a replacement part but have not yet heard back from them.  I don't know if anyone else has had a repeat problem with the front truck.

This is the only complaint I have of this beautiful locomotive, and it's the hands down favorite at our train show.

Buen provecho.
