Three months ago I got that loco and was searching for an original tender which seems not so easy to find and totally impossible in France.
Following the advice of BOB2 to search for something else, Lionel or MTH, I had the opportunity to buy a spare tender from Hudson Products which is a repro of the Lionel 700t.
I repainted it and used the coal pile of an original Lionel tender. There is some more things to do on it, better coal pile, missing jewels on the marker lights and maybe some more details to the tender, a better coupler also. This engine is a very smooth running model, quite and powerfull, I am very surprised with the high quality of motorisation.
The tender is shown on the pictures with a third rail pick up for center rail but the engine with isolated wheels on the tender runs also on two rail and I also have the possibility to use a pick up for outside third rail.
Any idea or comment to add something more to the final product would be very welcome.
Now I have to search for a set of NYC passenger cars from the thirties...
