I need a small screw for my C&NW streamlined E4 Hudson #4008, for one of the ports for grease on the underside of the engine. I do not know where to get one, and there is no parts diagrams for the engine on MTH website. Are these screws universal for other locomotives? Thanks.

They're a common screw, I think they're a 3mm screw about 5mm long. I had to replace a missing one, I just made the little gasket from some 1/64" gasket material and raided my hardware box for the screw that fit. Just make sure the screw isn't long enough to hit the internal gears.
Good warning about the length. I had an example as a 4-40 4mm, but aren't these not going to be metric as you mentioned? Luckily the washer was still sticking to the spot due to some grease but no screw.
I don't remember the exact size, but it was a common one that I had tons of them in my hardware box. The one I used was either 4 or 5 mm in length.
OK thanks.
