Sent an inquiry to MTH about this, but maybe this is faster. Does anybody know the size of the screws used to secure the tether cable plastic male connector to the locomotive trucks? These seem to be in the M .06 or .08 size with fine threads. Thanks

Metric M2 sized.
Verified by looking up E-8 chassis for common mounting of the tether connector, part 52
That said, get yourself an assortment for laptop replacement screws assortment- way cheaper and better deal.

Thanks, I did not think they were that big, I'm used to US size and these looked like they were the metric equivalent of 80'
Looked all over for that size of machine screw, took apart old TV remotes, remembering there was a tiny screw that held the circuit board to the plastic, right diameter, wrong pitch. Ended up getting a kit a 410 various M2 lengths with .4 pitch for 8 bucks and free delivery, so will have 408 left over to fix/build things with. At the rate I use this size metric, I should run out around 2147.
FWIW, Metric 2.0mm screws are pretty small...
There are .03937 thousandths of an inch in a MM so call it .040 meaning 2MM will be pretty close to .080 inch
My comments were directed at what we find in O-scale model trains.
The smallest screws I've encountered with the trains are the 1.4mm ones that hold smoke motors to the smoke unit.
