When I first received this 20-2915-1 locomotive the forward headlamp was non functional straight out of the box. A little detective work and re-seating the plug brought the lamp to life. The following year the PS2 board failed and had to be replaced at my expense since it was out of warranty.  $$$ At  some point after that repair I noticed that the forward headlamp was out again.  I pulled off the body, checked the plug, looks okay, examined the lamp and could not see any discoloration indicating a burnout but couldn't see filament either. Put it back together and ran it as is. Runs great except for the no headlight. Now however I'm thinking I'd like that operational.

First, what's the possibility it's the board and not the lamp?  Next, I can't find a part number anywhere and MTH is non responsive to parts number requests. I guess a $4.00 part isn't worth their time. I also checked with Brasseur Trains but they couldn't help. The owner's manual doesn't list any part numbers either nor . Does anyone have any suggestions on how to best tackle this?

Thanks

I did a factory reset the other day to address another unrelated issue. Still no light but thanks for the suggestion.

Typing in the product number leads you into a quagmire with no answers as there is no product diagram available. And the parts list has about 40 different GOW possibilities in two different sizes. Some with a plug some without and all different voltages, and no reference to what they're for.  MTH makes helping yourself more difficult than it should be.

Have you tried calling Midge in MTH parts? Phone is your best method of contact. Leave a message if she does not answer and she will call you back. If the part is available she can find it. Another option would be to contact forum member GGG, he is an MTH tech and stocks lots of parts and is very knowledgeable. If it is not that part he will be able to fix it anyway. Gunrunnerjohn is another good one, but he has been referring folks to GGG due to having a large backlog.

All PS-2 equipped locos are 5 (or 6) volt bulbs. They have a plug on the bulbs, and a socket that comes from the circuit board. I would check the socket from the circuit board. Sometimes the tiny wire breaks off the pin that it is soldered to, but it is hard to tell because the heat shrink on the pin covers it up. Give a GENTLE tug on the wires there and see if they come loose.
