Replaced the bulb (T53) with a (51) don't know it the the bulbs are the same or not, the (51) works some of the time.

It appears that the collector  has ZERO tension and may be floating causing the light to burn some of the time. I realize this is an inexpensive car but I would like some advice on how to correct the "collector" problem. I don't know how to remove the truck.

First, the 51 light bulb is 6 volts. Will burn out quickly. replace with another 53 or 363 bulb. You don't need to take the truck off. The roller carriage just snaps in. Use a small screwdriver on the side of the truck frame and it will pop out. There will most likely be a broken wire there on the roller pick up or ground spring. Add a little more tension by bending the copper spring. Note in 1970 and 1971 the pick-up used a hollow roller, later ones have a improved replaceable snap in roller assembly.

Thanks Chuck.

Works great, I will buy some 53 or 363 bulbs but right now I am a happy railroader.

You may not remember but you repaired a "Big Emma" L&N Berkshire tender 1970, made in 1986 for JC Penny.

This engine runs like a sewing machine smokes like a wild fire and pulls 16 (027) cars. no problem.

Thanks again

Brent
