Seeking way to modify Lionel Fastrack Crossing Gate 6-12062 to raise to a full 90 degree vertical position when open

Currently using all Fastrack and want to add Lionel's Fastrack Crossing Gate 6-12062 but don't like the unprototypical way the crossing gates when raised and not activated don't appear fully open in a realistic 90 degree vertical position but instead are at a 45 degree semi-raised, semi-lowered position. This is not prototypical and realistic looking. Any suggestions on how the gates can be made to raise to a 90 degree vertical position when they're not activiated and open? Your thoughts, suggestions and help most appreciated.
