if one of the upcoming sensor tracks is place at the beginning of a stub track and then say three locomotives are backed into the stub passing over the sensor track, will the iPad app show all three engines on the stub and in correct order?

Yes. As they pass over the sensor track The ID and name will Pop up. They will not retain the text though. It is a momentary display.
Is any information retained on the ipad display identifying the engines sitting on the stub track after they pass over the sensor?
Once they pass over the sensor track it displays the name for approx 10 seconds. It will not show the engines sitting on the stub. Only as they pass over the sensor.
Wonder if there is any chance of an enhancement that would retain the information as to what is on the stub. Would be a very helpful feature for those with hidden track for storage, etc. Perhaps an icon next to the stub that could be touched causing a table to pop up showing what is currently residing on the stub with last in at the top and first in at the bottom. Also, a summary table showing all the layout stubs with their respective equipment. Seems to me this type of feature could lead to having dozens of sensor tracks on a layout vs a few.
I would think this is possible. The info would retain perhaps the last 3 engines that crossed and display them. I would add this to the LCS thread currently in the TMCC/Legacy section.
Rudy who is Lionel's point man can see what the feasibility is.

Thanks for your usual updated info on this track. We just just recently had Lionel do a demonstration of the sensor track on our layout. One thing that cam up later was how do you put this track in a layout that is already permanently mounted and ballasted. We are set to do this next so it was not an issue here yet. However on my home layout, now way am I going to rip up what has been completed. Has anyone else raised this issue?

Ray,
That is a very good question!
For my home layout, which is still in the planning it is a no brainier to add 5" Sections at areas where they could provide info or add to the layout operation when adding the customized actions for either direction.
I got to see if our club would even approve the idea after they get the module for our track.

Tapping the sensor ICON on the iPad will bring up the last engine info and stay until dismissed.

Our plan is to have an "add-on" sensor for non Fastrack layouts developed for these environments. Basically some electronics to add to the track system of choice.

[JZ] The LCS sensor electronics will be developed for other track systems. The IRDA receiver on the sensor track must be shielded properly or you can’t recover the data. Once can try taking apart the Fastrack unit, but your results may not be positive. We are shortly to have Fastrack versions in production; and we will start to integrate other track systems as time permits.

So I take it the track know which direction the train traveled over the track? If it can't tell, then it wouldn't be much use in letting you know what's in a siding since it can't tell if something has gone in our out the siding.

The Sensor Track knows direction of travel of the loco or car passing over top of it.

Good to know. Now, have you all thought of making a signaling system that works with the track?
