Wondering if anyone has a layout featuring separate track loops and a planned scheme to transfer product (lumber, coal, etc) from one loop to another via operating accessories?  The idea being that one train could not move the raw material from its source all the way to delivery destination.  Instead, there would be two trains, each on an independent loop.  The first train would move the product from source to some sort of transfer station.  Then, a second train would move the product from the transfer station to a destination industry.  Anyone do this for any industry, any time period, any pics to share?

Thanks

Transfer stations make a great way to inter-operate different gauges.  I'm thinking od having a On30 line that serves a coal mine and lumber mill.  It'll transfer coal and lumber to my standard gauge line.

This would be a place to use a Walthers ore transfer dock to transfer the coal to full size hoppers.
