I have been running trains, off and on with the DCS Wifi application for well over a year now.  One thing I swear I have done in the past is to set the maximum speed of a DCS locomotive.  I thought that I had touched the white arrow sort of thing at the top of the speed scale on the Run Engines screen and moved it around to where I wanted it.  I cannot get this to work now (probably user error)

One other thing that I have run into is that the speed needle seems to climb by itself (with the engine running away).  I am not sure what is causing this, but I have had to slap the handle on the old ZW down twice to avoid a major problem.

Any assistance on these two issues would be greatly appreciated!

If you touch the speed control ring anywhere between 0 and the maximum speed setting the engine will respond immediately. When using the + icon to increase speed I would occasionally miss the button and hit the max speed area of the speedometer ring, resulting in some frantic actions on my part to get things slowed down before tragedy ensued!

I now set the maximum speed for each engine around 60mph as soon as I add it to the app. That way when my finger misses the + icon and lands on the speed control in the area above 60mph it has no effect.

There was some discussion about this issue in a recent thread I started regarding the latest release of the DCS app. I suggested to MTH that they consider moving the +/- speed control buttons down about 3/8” to get clear of the speed dial. I also suggested they allow speed control for TMCC and Legacy engines. Right now you can’t set the max speed for these engines and things tend to race off with an errant touch of the 200mph sweet spot.

I hope MTH gives some consideration to your suggestions. I rarely use the app for control of my Legacy and TMCC engines for that very reason you mention in your post.

I am pretty sure now that what I did was touch the 200 on the speed ring, instead of the plus, as Joedaddy described above.

I could not agree more about moving the "+" and "-" a bit further away from the ring.

I was looking for the Maximum Speed setting when I had a Legacy engine on the screen-looks like I could not find the Maximum Speed setting because it does not exist.  I did find it for DCS locomotives, thanks to DanR, above.

Thank you all for your responses!
