I have a post-war Lionel #2037 that keeps shorting out and popping my breaker. I've taken it apart and all wiring seems good. Put motor on track and seems good. Put engine back together. Ran for short time then shorts out again. Any suggestions?

sometimes the post war engines e unit wires ground out or wire is exposed due to covering falls off and shorts against case OR shell. also the heater element sometimes the wires insulation also fall off and ground out on engine case. i would trace the engine with vom ohm meter and use continuity check to locate shorts. might need to completely rewire engine wiring do to this insulation problem.

Alan, Bingo. Had broken wire on smoke unit. Soldered and used liquid tape.
