This is a topic somewhat related to my earlier "Inquiries regarding Protosound 1" topic. This is different though in the sense that I merely want to see your MTH locos in action!

For those who have a working PS/1 locomotive with the original sound system (steam or diesel) in their collection, feel free to post a video of the engine at work!

Thanks!

I got mine less than 2 years ago for $99 but it can  supposedly “dead” I fooled with it and it worked. i suspect the previous owner did not understand how the proto 1 commands worked. I purchased an MTH premier PRR GP30 in 2018 for $75 , same deal he thought it was dead or not working right. I’ve had no issues with either. Mind you this is the only way I would have these locos as I will not spend  3-400 on a 20 year old MTH. Just my rules for me lol

The video didn't show it very well, but the paint job on this engine isn't the best. I actually got this engine for free which is amazing. The paint flaws include the strips are wiping away and lots of little chips. Because of that I am going to be repainting it, but not in a daylight scheme. Instead I am going to likely paint it up to look like the American freedom train.

This video shows my MTH Premier PRR G5s locomotive #5740 running at 60 miles per hour on the outer loop of my 12’-by-8’ layout built between 1999 and 2004. It’s one of my favorites. The locomotive is about twenty years old and is running conventionally with PS1. I really like the sounds and whistle when it’s running fast. It’s very well broken-in and also runs well at slow speeds. It has a BCR and has never required anything other than lubrication and maybe two changes of traction tires. I have several PS1 locomotives that I still run often.

The ones I run frequently are a Premier New York Central p2b electric motor (lightning stripe), a Railking New York Central 0-8-0 switcher and a Railking New York Central SW-1500 diesel. I have many other PS1 locomotives but have never run them...

I've seen a video of the 0-8-0 NYC switcher before. It has kind of an odd whistle, but it still sounds nice.
