I have some signs tacked to the fascia of my layout (Icon below) to inform visitors of what they are seeing on my layout. Anyone else doing this?

I used MS Word to make my signs, but MS PowerPoint will work as well. My signs are on individual 8.5 x 11 inch bond paper.

My signs explain trains visitors might see running such as The Blue Comet, The Queen & Crescent Limited, The Sunrise Special, etc. The signs also explain the DCS operating system and some of the scenery features such as the Hell Gate Bridge.

Yes, I have done this for awhile.  Mine are signs such as explaining my H & N Chevrolet Building model where I met my wife.  Or a picture of the real Chicago Union Station below my model of it.  This makes it easier to impart that type of information to my guests while I am busy trying to operate the trains.

I hadn't thought of instructions about my control panels or switches which is a great idea.

My plan is to do a diagram of a small 'yard' area in the center of my layout, as it'd be tough to realize which pulls are for which turnouts otherwise. It's the only place where you can't immediately tell which blue point pull is for which turnout as there's a jumble of tracks and turnouts in a roughly 6X2' area...

I'm also thinking of screwing a couple of sheets of clear plastic to the fascia with a postcard of the real RR inside. I also might have the name of the RR made as a vinyl stencil and paint that in gold on the green background of the fascia (they used SRR green-gold through the 30s and as late as 1942).

The car card pockets on the fascia will need signage as to which pocket is for what.

Each station area will be named on the fascia as well.

I also have a 1943 Tennessee license plate (I'm in the process of painting the numbers by hand onto it as it had to be stripped and re-painted) and I'm seriously mounting that along the fascia if I can find room for it. If not there, it'll go on the wall as that's the state and year the layout takes place in...
