Just finished putting up another shelf above the TV and placed the new Santa Fe PA along with an Aristo 40' boxcar and the Santa Fe SD70.  Am surprised at the size difference between the PA and the boxcar. Also I didn't realize how much bigger the new road diesels are compared to the post war diesels of the late 1940s. Have been under the impression that both USA Trains (the two Warbonnets) and Aristo were both 1:29 scale while MTH is 1:32 scale.  This boxcar appears to be far too large when compared to these two road locomotives do they not?

this photo above shows MTH 1/32 Dash 8 C in front, B trucked in the middle and an Aristo dash 9.

The photo below shows a MTH on the left and a USA 1/29 on the right.

my 1 gauge steamers are from MTH and are 1/32. Ray has some comparison pics of the two sized Big Boys on his site. It may help you estimate the difference.

I was trying to stay away from this post of fear of the warning about it's not a large scale site!!

Anyone have some photos?

As Joe's photos illustrate, the scale difference of 1/29 versus 1/32, while it doesn't sound like much, is easily noticed with equipment this large.

No problem at all, C. Sam!  Heck, I'm a major Large Scale fan (and hobbyist), too!  I have a small LS layout in my garage that is up and running as far as track is concerned, but I have plans to some day make it into a far more detailed mining/logging pike.

I think you'll find both of the sites I recommended to be good resources for the LS hobbyist.  Folks from all over the world participate on both.

both are free and both have very fine and knowledgeable participants.

I reduced the size of the pics to save memory!!
