Hi. 2 blinks indicates a smoke element problem. But i have noticed that this same blink code can be given if there is a bad connection from the wiring loom to the smoke unit, and also if there has been a bad fluid spill onto the circuit board.

You might wish to check that the wiring connections are good, as a loose plug can cause this issue. Check too that the element is properly connected. Also check if there is any excess fluid on the smoke unit circuit board. (Just wipe it off if there is.)

If none of these is the case, then you probably have a bad smoke unit heating element.

Follow the rest procedure for the engine as explained in the manual.

Fan and no smoke? No fan and smoke? Both stopped?

then order parts from Lionel. 3-4 days.

there are smoke unit threads to help with the take down. One for fan motor replacement and the other for element and wick replacement. Eric's trains has a nice video on a fan motor replacement.
