I have a MTH PS3 powered A unit with smoke and a Dummy B unit  that I would also like to have smoke.  Can I use the smoke unit output from the A unit to power a second smoke unit that I would install in the B unit without causing an overload?  I would  install a tether between the two units.

I also own a Electric RR Mini Commander that can turn a smoke unit off using my Lionel remote.   I could place this and the smoke unit in the B unit. But this would require both a MTH and Lionel controller to get both units smoking.  Any suggestions or comments?    Phil

Phil I have done this to at least two sets that I have, maybe even three. I found a smoke unit that operated at 16 -18 volts, added an on/off switch and a pickup roller. It worked OK, but the smoke unit didn't produce as good, they didn't match and it was too obvious. I think on one instance I used matching smoke units and this worked better (MTH I believe) I still have that set.

Thanks Raildude.  My plan was to find an identical MTH smoke unit.  Mount it inside the dummy B and connect it via a tether between the two units in parallel with the existing A unit smoke unit.  I would hope that turning the smoke on or off via the MTH dcs remote could produce smoke from both units and not overload anything or cause problems.  Phil

The 3V PS/2 board or the PS/3 boards both support two smoke units.  There is a mod to allow the older 5V PS/2 board to support two smoke units, changing some components on the board.

I've looked at the Ps2 / 3 volt Railking Triplex to add smoke to the tender via opening up the tender stack and adding a tender smoke unit........I didn't realize this might be possible.

The other issue is trying to get a reverse headlight on a Premier F7 Ps3 non powered when run with the powered unit.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks John.

Kind of cash limited since the home airconditioner went south and the  Hemi Charger needed all four tires .....and the lateral sewer tap was deemed unacceptable because I didn't have the right color pipe. 😬

On the Ps3 boards , isnt the possibility of coming off of pin # 27 and then #38 .or # 40 with a tether to the rear unpowered A going to give the headlight the reverse on ?
