Just wanted to post an update and follow-up on SMR's efforts to make more of its trains in the USA.
SMR's B&O "Grasshopper" engine is moving forward. We will have some sub-assemblies to show off at York in April and expect to have a working prototype ready by Fall with deliveries beginning a year from now. The good news is that the engine and tender is priced $350 - $450 LESS than our last imported locomotive. Of course it will be fully decorated and detailed and available in both 2- and 3-Rail versions.
This is the first time in decades that a brass loco was made in USA.
We have just received today the completed prototype of our US-made 1860s boxcar kit. It needs a few more tweaks but should be ready for sale in the next 3-5 months. Only the trucks and couplers were not made here. Final pricing has not yet been determined, however it will be competitive. It will be offered as a kit and completed and decorated, in both 2- and 3-Rail versions.

Who says it can't be done here?
