ok so do you have a snowblower on your layout ?

No blowers, no. But I do have a Rio Grande plow that I run every now and then in the winter.
Just bought an MTH 'blower while on vacation. At 18 VAC, it sounds like an industrial chain saw.
My new work train.
This shot reveals the motor behind the paper-thin 'blades'.

Mine is in the garage waiting for next winter.
No blowers but I will have a plow parked just outside of my engine house. I have weathered it and plan to set up a vignette of the back shop crew doing repairs on it.
"Snowblowers" are used by homeowners, not railroads. Not a RR term.
What you are referencing is properly termed a "rotary snowplow", as there are also
snowplows that are essentially large blades.
All this chilly info from a guy - me - who lives well South of the snow line. I have never
actually been in the presence of a domestic "snowblower" (just try to find one around here at Lowe's).
No rotary plows right now. I have an MTH UP Jordan spreader on the O-Gauge layout. I am looking for an HO or O Ann Arbor wedge plow.
Have a CNW snow plow. Was thinking about getting a rotary, but couldn't find one in the CNW roster. There were a couple of clips on YouTube of outdoor modelers using model snowplows to actually clear the tracks. Pretty cool. Was wondering if the MTH rotary could be modified to actually pitch snow.
No rotary snowplow but I do have a B&O Jordan spreader. I must be working because I've yet to see any snow on my tracks.
I once needed one to get to my layout
The Jet Powered Snowblower simulation that Lionel offers does not actually blow out a jet of air that will clear debris from the tracks.
What somebody could do is take 4 fans from smoke units, line the fans up in a tube to create air pressure, and put a proper downward facing nozzle on the end of the tube.
It is about 3 months to Thanksgiving. It can be made by then if somebody has a bunch of spare tubes and smoke units.
Thanks.
Andrew
Loco Budd built one of these a few years ago, very cool to watch
I have an MPC one that everyone likes to watch.
Though we have a portion of our layout dedicated to a winter scene, I have not considered a snow blower. Probably because it is very much a big city look, it would not look good in my opinion.
John S: pretty neat video.
I have an MTH Rotary Snow Plow. In the next six months I plan to repaint it to the Polar Express color scheme & weather w/ snow. I also plan to install smoke as seen in this fantastic video below.
I have an 8459 Rio Grand rotary snowplow out on my layout right now.
I am fond of all the postwar style motorized units and little diesels.
(I also have a snowblower in the garage)
I have both a MTH RK SP Rotary plow and a PRR Jordan Spreader. Will run them when Daffy Duck proclaims it is the eason to run them!
I do run the SP in front, then the EMD Generator Car, A Williams SD45 or Train Master, then a train of SP MOW cars. Nice train!
