just downloaded the 2014 MTH catalog.  So many choices, so empty wallet!

Although old news (haven't visited DCS pages in months, so missed announcement), I see that there is/will be a smartphone app to control the layout now.  Assume this lets MTH off the hook of having to design a new handheld with color screen and added features.

So for old geezers like me who have just a simple Tract Phone or similar, it means upgrading to $50/month(?) smartphone just to be able to use the app even though my calling time is nearly zilch.

Too bad developers had not considered PCs, as then you could have layout graphics with inexpensive computer and touchscreen to set switches or other features.

As I said, pass that cheese with my whine!

My understanding is that the DCS wifi will be an app for iOS or android operating systems.  That means it will run on a smartphone OR a tablet or iPod touch.  You can buy a new android tablet or used iPod touch for about the same price as a DCS remote.  Most tablets have wifi built in and do not require a monthly subscription fee.  On a tablet you'll have a large color touch screen with added features,  everything you are "whining" for.  And on some tablets and on iPod touch there is a camera so you can say "cheese" when taking pics of your DCS layout.
