Hello all! Happy Father's Day to all of us dads on here! Took some quick dirty pics of the SD35 and my new Lionel GP30 on the porch I wanted to share...comments welcome. IMAG0605IMAG0613IMAG0611_1

Still have to paint the rear pilot and add the plow. Paint the uncoupling levers in front. Add windshield wipers and cab side windows as well as little touch ups here and there before weathering . The GP30 will be rebuilt as well with fixed pilots. Plows new full length handrails as well as being relettered for my private road name. And the usual air conditioner antenna stands new cab glazing etc. So far pretty impressed with the Lionel geep tho. Anyways have a great fathers day people and be safe!

Another flick to show roof top details and how much of a impact they make in overall realism

Funny part is I forgot about the PRR herald on this side until I uploaded the pic. Add that to the list of things to do. Oh and a tip for removing the Atlas pad printing is to use a pencil eraser and some 91% alcohol to rub them off. Leaves a nice finish when done. It does remove some of the paint but I use a dry brush technique to blend the surrounding areas. And add fade.

Yessir. You may want to make the coupler mounts removable in the pilots, as I'm redesigning them to tighten up the  space around the Kadee box.  It will require you to remove the side screw wings, but they should still work.  Like this:

I'll let you know when I'm done and send you some replacements to try

Meanwhile; here's my latest project...

"..Meanwhile; here's my latest project..."

Are those 3D printed pilots as opposed to your spacers on that NYC unit?  I've been wanting to print some pilots, but i haven't had the time to CAD some up and give it a try. (layout building is my priority right now)

If they are indeed printed pilots, I'm currious as to what material you chose. I'm still not sure what material would be the best combination of strength and smoothness for that application.

Nice job with all your projects. thanks for sharing them.
