Hello,

I am loading a steam sound file on a 5V board from a diesel. It loads fine and works but comes up with it's old name when I add it to the handheld. I made sure the original was deleted from the handheld before I started the download. I then renamed it, and it would start up & shut down fine until I power everything down. When I come back the handheld says ENGINE NOT ON TRACK so I added it again and it comes up with the old diesel name again on the handheld. In all cases the correct steam file is in place ( I have attempted this 4 times and I am following the instructions .

I have loaded diesels several times but never changed from diesel to steam.

Thanks for your help,

Scott

Scott,

The battery needs to be charged and then the Custom Name must be re-entered.

The exception would be if you gave the board a permanent name by using the Dealer Service Loader Program instead of the Consumer Loader Program.

Your battery is not charged or is bad. If it's an older white battery replace it with a fully charged green one or a BCR. Don't try to charge it and keep using it. They were poor quality. Also make sure the plug snaps on tightly to the battery. You may have to squeeze the contacts closed a bit on the battery and the plug.

Power it up conventionally and let is start up with sounds.  Turn power off.  If it does not play shutdown sounds with the BCR the BCR or battery cable/connector is bad or the charge circuit is bad on the 5V board.  Same with battery.  But if no sounds with new fully charged battery, it is the circuit board battery control that is bad and your out of luck.  G
