New to the forum and looking for sources to buy Gargraves 502S Standard Gauge Track with stainless steel rails with black plastic ties for outdoor running.
Primarily:
- 502S 37" Rigid Straight Section Standard Gauge w/ Stainless Rigid Black Plastic Ties
- 138-502S 138" Dia Curve Standard Gauge w/ Stainless Rails Plastic Ties
- It's unclear whether 502F 37" Straight Section Stainless Flexible has black plastic ties.
Wasn't aware Gargraves discontinued manufacturing until visiting a local hobby shop, whose listed as a Gargraves Dealer. They and other shops only have the Gargraves phantom tinplate with wooden ties.
If you use Google to search, this Gargraves website comes up: http://www.gargraves.com/_prev...nal2.html#transition or their 2016 price list shows Standard Gauge available. However, this page on Gargraves shows it's discontinued at this page: http://www.gargraves.com/sectional2.html#std
Only online source I can find is www.trainz.com. But looking for a possible bulk buy.
As to the project, I'm combining two of my favorite childhood hobbies to build a model train with Meccano / Erector on standard gauge track. Building a PRR J1 2-10-4 locomotive and scaling to 1:26.6 as best I can leads to quite a large train! This explains the need for large radius curves to handle the ten coupled drivers.
