Interested in the  new VisionLine SP offerings from Lionel. I prefer an open cab on my locomotives to enjoy the cab detail. Watching the SP Vision Line video on their website it mentioned that the GS-1 would be unstreamlined and have an open cab (all painted black)

Did the GS-2 feature an open cab; I used to have a Lionel version but don't remember if the cab was open

Thank you

The GS-1, GS-2, and GS-3 all have open cabs, and we've added drop plates to the tooling.

You think Lionel is getting enough use of the GS series tooling this catalog...?!

You'd be surprised how much tooling modification and new tooling we've had to do for these engines.

Thank you Dave; nice work Lionel. I will be purchasing one of the models

@Dave Olson sorry all for getting a little off-topic.  I know that you also retooled the rear truck on the Reading T-1.  Any chance that you'll be able to revise the Boxpok wheel pattern on that loco in time for production?  Thanks!

I'm sure people would ALSO be surprised how much money had to be spent for these tooling modifications and the new tooling done for these locomotives.

Hey, I've got my quibbles with Lionel's prices from the traditional market side, but I also understand that Lionel has to come up with all the costs of having buildings (taxes, utilities, maintenance, insurance), employee salaries/benefits, a return for the investors... oh and paying for the production (and overseas shipping) of all their products and their related investment costs ALL from out of the sales of these very products.
