Back on topic.  The smaller shows like SW O Scale offer a really good opportunity for interacting with the top notch modelers attending and being featured.  

 

 

 

 

Funny you mention the smaller shows. I went to one in Missouri City a few months back and though I was one of two O scalers there, I did get to meet some very good modelers and attend a couple of very informative clinics. I definitely don't count out smaller shows.

I attended in 2013 and had a great time and plan on attending again this year; having lived in the area for decades I have a lot of friends there that I like to catch up with but the show has always been worth attending,  good clinics, presentations, layout visits and sales tables, not a  big show but always have a good time.

Dick Kuelbs was a prolific rail photographer whose works appeared in almost every railfan magazine over the past twenty years.  Dick, a past president of the DFW O-scalers, passed away of cancer in the past year.  Jim DeBruin has a special interest in O Scale history.   O scalers will recognize Jim from his many articles in O Scale Trains Magazine.

Like most meets, the answer is yes.  Some want full retail and others are willing to deal so they don't have to bring it back home.
