Hello all ...1930-31 Southern Pacific Mountain by Icken & Barker at the birth of O scale. Icken & Barker sold a finished chassis for about 1/4 of a complete RTR engine. Finished models like this by Icken would have been $200 + ...real $$$ in the 1930 ...so for $ 50 +- ...a hobbyist, could start with a running chassis and learn to build a body.
Icken used a double gear reduction for smooth operation . Note wide wheel tread and wide flanges ...this is long before O gauge / scale standards ...so this engine will not go through the frogs & guards on,a switch.
Running with outside 3td rail and manual reverse ...this is also before the,K& D motors ...as Icken helped design it years later,.
