No problem Mike, it didn't look all that damaging, just a SPAM to send you to some oddball site.
The only spam you are allowed to send comes in a can.
I got that one. Right into the trash can.
I didn't receive it, but thank you for the heads up, Mike!
I'll have spam, spam, spam, spam, baked beans and spam!
The reason you don't remember emailing some of the recipients is that you probably didn't. Typically what happens in this scenario is that a contact list is hacked and a random member is chosen to have their email address spoofed as the sender. Emails are then sent to the other contacts in the list looking like it's from the spoofed email address. Unfortunately the spoofee typically gets the grief even though they're as much (if not more) of a victim.

So the question is how does one trace back to the hacker?
Mostly impossible. I have the email and I'm going to look through the headers and see what they show. If the hack is at all sophisticated then they've been changed and won't lead anywhere.
I get these fairly frequently. The giveaway for me, usually, is that I get an email from somebody who I haven't communicated with in years. Example: a sports team mailing list or the school(s) from when my kids were young. They're adults now.
Immediate delete.
Change your passwords for here and you email account.
I got the e-mail and opened it. I just had some landscaping work done and confused his name with yours both Michaels. I thought it was his bill.
I opened it and put in my e-mail as requested but nothing opened up. I hope I have not inadvertently given my e-mail address to the hacker.
Any suggestions.
I just tried to change my password here but could not verify my account. Seems my account has been compromised. I’m going to attempt to change my e-mail password.

If all the recipients were OGR Forum members and none from Mike's personal email address book, is it more likely that Mike's email/name was harvested from the OGR Forum profile database along w/ the email recipients and Mike was the random selection to have his name/email spoofed as the sender?
I don' think that was the case as a bunch of other contacts outside the Forum community received e-mails from me. AND I received this same spam e-mail from one of them. So I don't think OGR was "Ground Zero" so to speak.
AOL system down so I can’t change the password. Tried changing on OGR but that does not work either. My guess is you are going to start getting spam from my account.
OK, able to change my AOL passwaord. Still not able to change OGR but will try again. What a pain.
OK, changed both passwords.

And I do concur as I haven't received any email from Mike. I must be on his "black list" for some unknown reason.... (Chuckle)
How are our passwords involved?
Please forward to Hawaii, they are crazy for Spam.

Well I wasn’t in time. My iPad got compromised my e-mail accounts were closed and I had to reset all of my accounts.
Not sure if my contact list will be used to send spam but be on the alert should you get one from me.
